HBCN: Step 1 - Breathe/Relax

Yes, I am repeating this. That’s because it is so important. Take a deep breath and relax. Fear and panic will only clutter your mind and cause you undue stress, making your situation worse. For more information on the basics regarding cancer, please read my document, Cancer - An Introduction. You will learn there is no reason to panic. Chances are nothing is going to happen to you anytime soon. You have time to learn about your new normal. You
have time to learn this is not a battle. It is, instead, a healing opportunity. Like many people, I felt that nearly overwhelming panic set in with my initial diagnosis. Fortunately, through
research and the knowledge I’ve gained, I now know my diagnosis was a gift, a wake-up call that I was not taking good enough care of myself; mind, body, spiritually, emotionally.
Take the time to breathe. Decipher what is important and what is not. Keep the good and get rid of the rest. Learn to meditate. Learn to love yourself. Find healthy, calming things which bring you joy and then enjoy them. Do whatever it is that helps bring you peace. Remember, you are still alive. Through the simple tools, you'll learn here, there is hope.
